Should there Citarum River Management

Heavy rain flushe Watershed (DAS) Citarum apparently caused overflowing dam in Purwakarta Teak noble province of West Java and flooding in some places in Karawang, Puwakarta and Bekasi including some districts in sauth Bandung area.

In the rainy season which began in October very high rainfull river into the dam Jatiluhur very abundant, but the drought water shortage mainly as a driver of the turbine for Water Power (hydropower). Overflowing water in the dam due the damage Jatiluhur Watershed (DAS) is increasingly Citarum.

The places of origin such as mountain forests Puppet, mountain Patuha as well as areas upstream of Citarum Bandung Lembang and Dago north all have experienced very severe damage, these areas rivers emptying into Citarum, including the city of Bandung basin through which the river Cikapundung finally culminated in the Citarum.

In the northern region of origin Bandung Regioanal Open Space Green (DRTH) now has turned into a luxury residential area of housing and Villa. In the southern part of Bandung was no less corrupt than the housing there is also industrial plants. Factories and housing many displaced Regional Open Space Green so field which is the parking lot nex to water seep into the ground. With the reduced area of green open space will direct rain water into thr river so that flooding downtrtream areas Citarum.

Necessary cooperation between all stakeholders, including decisive action from govermant and public awareness of the importance of maintaining the environment. Government supposed not easy to give building permits and all the activities that will change the green open land to other functions, and if there is a need to act firmly against and no selective logging.

Region handling Citarum river flow to a special institusion that handles as Ciliwung and Cisadane river passing through the area of Bogor. Citarum and other rivers in Indonesia need supervision and maintenance of the estuary from upstream to avoid conflicts of interests between the various interest of the special management needs that handle the director-general level.
